My name is Joy Gilmartin. I received my Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University. I have been teaching fifth grade for the East Stroudsburg Area School District since 1990.
I enjoy making arts and crafts. I also feel that the arts enhance students’ learning. I am proud to be the chairperson for the Arts in Education Committee. Resica is special because it is a school of the arts and it is filled with warm, caring people.
I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree. I graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a Master’s Degree in Reading. I began teaching at Resica in 1998 when the “pod” was built, but my teaching career with the East Stroudsburg Area School District prior to that time.
My favorite thing about teaching is when the students and I can laugh and learn together. My favorite thing about Resica is the wonderful families I get to serve!
When I am not teaching, I love reading and collecting comic books, watching movies, teaching at ESU for Kids, and spending time with my wife and our two wonderful children!
I graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor degree and then went on to earn my teaching certification from East Stroudsburg University. I started at Resica in 2004 as a substitute teacher. I was a Kindergarten Paraprofessional from 2006 to 2010. In 2012, I returned to Resica as a first grade and then transitioned to teaching fifth grade the following year.
My favorite thing about teaching is being able to watch the students grow academically throughout the school year. In addition to serving as a teacher at Resica, I have also had the privilege of being a Resica parent and therefore can appreciate the sense of family and community that exists in Resica Elementary School.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy volunteering with different organizations (including the Resica PTO), reading, traveling, painting, and spending time with my husband and son.
