As Middle Smithfield prepares for its new addition, it was time for a look back to life at the school fifty years ago. Students, parents and community members gathered at the school for the opening of the time capsule encased in the cornerstone of the 1959 addition.

Pictures of then-principal Joe Kulick and members of the school board were among documents, blueprints and a newspaper from the era, making for quite an interesting journey back in time.

Congratulations to JT Lambert 8th grade student, Kristina V. for winning the Best Overall Student Accompanist Award on Friday June 5th during the JTL Choir's competition in Hershey, PA. The JTL Men's Choir came home with a 1st place win and the Cavalier Voices a 2nd place award in their divisions respectively.

Perseverance is the Word of the Month for June, and some Middle Smithfield students are in the spirit of character education as they helped to put together this bulletin board to promote healthy interactions in school.

HS North Business students travel to Sky Top Lodge for an etiquette luncheon.

Bushkill Elementary students, Henry R. and Bejan G. completed their community service project by organizing a school wide clean up. They wrote their own permission slips, organized the pickup groups, and the chaperones. The day was a big success. They got 7 bags of trash, found a traffic cone, part of a car, a tarp, and a bag of recycling. We believe that we helped the environment around our school a lot.

Students from Mrs. Sowers' seventh grade class at JTL hosted a luncheon for community members to celebrate a year-long writing project. Students also presented their research on future career choices, and guests shared their experiences of work life. In addition, the group assembled health kits for distribution to people affected by disasters. Special thanks to Mrs. Calandra's class for their help with the kit assembly project.
