Internet SafetyThe Following regulation pertains to use of the Internet and World Wide Web by minors on school district property. The CIPA statute requires schools to use filtering and blocking technology and to implement a set of policies related to internet access, calling both requirements an "internet safety policy." With regard to the elements of the internet safety policy, CIPA requires that schools address all of the following specific elements:
CIPA requires schools to comply with all of the above or lose e-Rate reimbursements from the Schools and Libraries Corp. ESASD has been filtering for five years, actively monitoring for three. The newly revised Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is also in compliance. Note: Internet filtering is not 100% effective. |
