December's Mileage Club Questions

December mileage information:

 

The following questions are based on the November information.

  

2 nd grade walked 310 miles    3 rd grade walked 155 miles   

4 th grade walked 140 miles     5 th grade walked 195 miles

Teachers walked 45 miles

 

Communication / Social Studies:

1. We are now traveling in winter. Write a short paragraph or draw a picture to show what the winter landscape would look like.

2. Use MapQuest or some other software program to determine the nearest town or city which is 124 miles from Fort Sumpter .

3. We are traveling through Tennessee . Research to find the following information: population of the state, state flower, state bird, state capitol, and natural resources that are found in that state.

4. Find out about Graceland and tell 3 things you would like to do there.

5. Bring in a picture or postcard showing Graceland . (primary)

 

Mathematics:

Primary:

1. Graceland will be the 4th landmark on our trip. If there were only a total of 8 landmarks, what fraction shows the part of the trip we have traveled? 1/3 1/5 1/2 1/4 Explain.

2. Use < or > to fill in the blanks 310 __ 155 __ 140 __ 195 __ 45.

3. Round the miles for each grade to the nearest hundred.

4. How many more miles did the teachers walk in November than October? Explain

5. Which grade levels walked an odd number of miles and which walked an even number of miles? Explain.

 

Intermediate:

1. What percent of the total miles walked so far has each grade level and teacher walked?

2. We are 632 miles from Graceland . If each grade level walks an equal number of miles, how many miles will they walk? What will the new total of miles be for each grade level?

3. How far did each grade level walk in November?

4. Construct a line graph to show number of miles each grade leveled walked in September, October, and November.
