2016-2017 Winter Recap

We had a lot of successes this Winter Sports Season in the East Stroudsburg Area School District. Some highlights include:
1. East Stroudsburg North Boys Basketball:
For the first time in High School North History, our Boys' Basketball Team had an outstanding post season run that started with an upset of top seed Emmaus in the EPC Championships to make it to the semifinals where they lost a tough game to Bethlehem Catholic. This was followed by an outstanding run in the District Playoffs where the Timberwolves topped Pottsville to win the first ever District XI 5A Championship. This qualified the team for the PIAA State Playoffs where we advanced to the round of 16 before losing to Spring Grove in a hard fought game.
2. East Stroudsburg South Rifle:
The Cavalier Rifle Team placed #3 in Pennsylvania Interscholastic Rifle State Championships! This is the highest States Team ranking in school history! For the individual Pennsylvania Interscholastic Rifle State Championships, Robert Van Solkema finished #7 in the state!
3. East Stroudsburg South Wrestling:
The East Stroudsburg Wrestling Team had a fantastic District XI Tournament. They qualified four wrestlers for the Regional Tournament:  Patrick Gould took 1st place at 126 lbs (his 2nd District Title), Steven Storm took 3rd place at 132 lbs, Tyler Delorenzo took 3rd place at 160 lbs, and Patrick Finn took 5th place at 220 lbs. At the Northeast Regional Tournament, Patrick Gould placed 3rd and Tyler Delorenzo placed 2nd, both qualifying for the PIAA Wrestling Championships. Steven Storm finished 5th place and Patrick Finn finished 6th. At the PIAA Wrestling Championships, Patrick Gould earned his second medal with an 8th place finish while Tyler Delorenzo went 2-2, missing the place medal round by one victory.
