Credit Recovery

Make-up Opportunity:

The Virtual Credit Recovery Program for the East Stroudsburg Area School District will be held for juniors and seniors who need to “catch up” on their academic work from previous high school years.  No student may take a course to “get ahead.”  Only students taking a full course load may apply for credit recovery.

ESASD’s Virtual Credit Recovery Program courses are not given free of charge and must be paid for by the student or their parents.  All money must be paid in advance by money order or certified check to the East Stroudsburg Area School District.  No personal checks will be accepted nor will payment plans be arranged.  Registration for the first semester will begin on August 22, 2011.

Attendance:

Courses will be completed on-line.  Credit and grades will be awarded on the basis of achievement.  However, student time will be reviewed through the on-line system to ensure appropriate time on task.  Students are advised to spend a minimum of 10 hours a week on course work.  Students are expected to complete their assigned course/s in its entirety.

Technology Equipment:

All students should have a computer (no more than 5 years old) with Internet Access to register for the course.  Microsoft Word 2003 or higher is required.

Course Dates:

All courses will begin and end according to the school calendar.  A mandatory student orientation meeting will be held at the beginning of each semester.  Parents are welcome to attend.  All applicants will be contacted one week prior to orientation.

Student/Teacher Communication:

Students should expect a response to questions and work posted for teacher review within 24 hours.  Students should use email or the online communication tools in Blackboard whenever possible to contact their instructor.  The Help Desk is available only for technical problems, and will not assist with course work questions.  The help desk can be reached at 570-424-8500 ext. 1616 and is available between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  Please keep this in mind when working through your course materials.
