Testimonials

"It is difficult to imagine how one could experience so much within a school year. My name is NC, and I have a lot to say about the East Stroudsburg Area School District's Virtual Academy. Some people may think that going to school virtually is the way to easily 'drop' out of school, or become a school 'flunky'.  For starters, I am not a school 'flunky', nor 'drop out'. There are many reasons why someone wants to enroll in a virtual school. I, like fellow students, have my own reasons. I was needed to help when my grandfather came home. You see, his legs were amputated and there was no money to pay for special nurses to move him in and out of bed, so I was the help - being able to lift him.

Virtual Academy has helped me become the person I am now. I grew to mature and got to experience all about life. I found a job and worked to help pay some bills in my house. Being enrolled, I got to experience more in life then being in a school all day long. The first week of school, I finished one whole course! Virtual Academy offered me the ability to get all my classwork and studies done with all the time in the world to myself.

Using this time, I got to be closer to my family. I got the chance to do more family outings and got to be with my grandfather. I thank God for VA, yet I believe VA was a sign in a way.  Because you go to school on the computer, you can be anywhere in this world and not have one absence! If I was in regular school, I would have about 25 absences for the whole year. I always get sick with the low immune system I have. In Virtual Academy, it is too impossible to be true; I can be sick and still go to school! What a perfect attendance, no?

Many people may ask what the procedures are of VA. It is a simple thing to use and the learning environment is just as a normal school environment, except for the visuals of friends and chit-chatting. You have all the support you need in VA. All your teachers are there for you when you need them and the school provides you with a school-addressed e-mail. Do not worry about supplies. The school can give you a computer if needed. Whether you have Internet or not, the ESASD will reimburse your Internet cost. Trust me, you are not lost!

In conclusion, it is difficult to imagine how one could experience so much within a school year. Some people may think that going to school virtually is the way to easily 'drop' out of school, or become a school 'flunky'. I was successful with ESASD's Virtual Academy - passing with straight A's. I can assure you that for whatever reason, VA is a great alternative!" - NC
