I started with the East Stroudsburg Area School District on September 01, 1998 as a Paraprofessional (though in those days we were first called Aids then Instructional Aids). I have worked with Special Education for what is now my 21st year in the field of Emotional/Supplemental Support. I have been told by many I have a knack for this job, but I think it is basically just having an understanding for the different emotional and learning styles of each and every student that passes through our doors. No two students are the same. Just because a student has a disability does not mean they cannot learn, they just need to recognize the way THEY need to learn! Patience and understanding, structure and routine, acceptance and guidance are all part of what a special needs student is in need of.
The first thing my students learn about me is that I am a Tinker Bell freak! I love everything about Tinker Bell and Fairies! I try to instill in all that Dreams come true when you make it possible! Dare to dream the impossible! Reach for the Stars! Never let anything get in your way…no matter your disability!
For every negative – they have to give me two positives! (Or they can’t leave the room)
On another note I have been involved in Lehman Intermediates Student Council as both Advisor and Co-Advisor for more than 10 years. I do truly enjoy this position just watching students become the excellent future leaders and well-rounded community members that they are. It is fun to assist them in their ideas in governing our school and I especially enjoy the ones who become dedicated for their three years at Lehman Intermediate.
So I hope to work with you in the future and thank you for being a part of our wonderful community here!
