North Aevidum Students Attend Youth Suicide Prevention & Awareness Summit

Students stand together for photo

Last week Aevidum students from East Stroudsburg High School North attended a Youth Suicide Prevention and Awareness Summit with other students from schools in Pike County. They were able to talk about the mental health needs of students, give possible solutions of support, network with other students, and listen to speakers regarding mental health. It was a great day and we look forward to continuing the conversation to support our students.

Aevidum is a non-profit organization that empowers youth to shatter the silence surrounding depression, suicide, and other issues facing teens. The word Aevidum, which means “I’ve got your back,” was created by students in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 2003 after a classmate died by suicide. Aevidum inspires schools and communities to adopt cultures of care and advocacy, encouraging all members to have their friends’ backs. Aevidum exists in elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and colleges nationwide.
