High School South Spanish Teachers, Chesla Lenkaitis and Martha “Betty” Kiesling, and their students, celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. In addition to focusing on the contributions of Hispanic Americans throughout the month in their classes through a variety of activities, their Spanish students had the opportunity to attend a field trip to Pocono Cinema for a double feature on Friday, October 17. Not only did South Spanish Teachers, their students, and South teacher chaperone, Bryan Cramer, enjoy the day, but Lehman Intermediate Spanish Teachers, Erika Cassel and Mary Rodriguez, their students, and teacher chaperone, Jess Soto, also joined to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Pocono Cinema by watching two films.

In the first film, "Chupa," Alex discovers a chupacabra, a legendary creature originating in Latin American folklore, living on the ranch while on a trip to meet his extended family for the first time in Mexico. Along with his cousins, Alex vows to protect the creature from a scientist during his trip to this Spanish-speaking country. In the second film, "Dora and the Lost City of Gold”, Dora is in high school. Accompanied by a group of teens and Boots the monkey, she embarks on a quest to save her parents while trying to solve the seemingly impossible mystery behind a lost Incan civilization in the Spanish-speaking country of Peru.
